Last month, summer came to an end. The month of holidays and general business meetings slackened, so we had fewer SPIBA events than usual. We have been saving up our energy so we that can use it in September!
On August 15th SPIBA gathered its friends on the ship-restaurant NewIsland. We were able to enjoy the many spectacular views of St. Petersburg, socialize and enjoy fine cuisine. We thank Concord Catering for organizing this event. Photos can be viewed in the gallery.
On August 25th, the HR Committee held a meeting on the “Overview of the labor market of St. Petersburg.” This annual review helps everyone to understand what is currently happening in the labor market. Anna Egorova, Director of Business Development Case HRSolutions, made a presentation and talked about trends in 2009-2011, she gave industry-wide data of salary reviews, benefits and compensation. Natalia Klyushina, senior HR consultant at ANCOR, spoke about the labor market, HR-specialists, its trends and forecasts. Presentations made by Natalia and Anna are available at the event page in the calendar.
As you know, SPIBA has started a regular course of lectures on marketing and sales strategies. On August 26th we held a second lecture on “Marketing Tools. Porter’s strategy”. The presentation by Andrey Alekseev, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, and Director of “Center of Innovation Development” in SPbGUEF, can be found here. Andrey combines academic and practice, he is a person who can make his teaching ideas into reality. We know the player-coaches, but we now have a player-professor! It was a great combination of classical theory and contemporary practice, which allowed for an active discussion on generating new ideas business. Igor Gorsky, Managing Partner of ARIN, was quickly writing down information from this lecture, he probably plans to implement some of these new ideas for his business!
On August 30th a joint meeting of the Legislation and Lobbying Committee and Finance Committee was held to discuss the letter about legislative initiative, which aims to automatize the currency control procedure for foreign-economic activity. It was decided to send an appeal to the Main Territorial Department of the Central Bank of Russia with the possibility of implementing electronic circulation of documents of foreign exchange controls between companies engaged in foreign economic activity and government agencies.
On September 16th a joint meeting will be held to discuss this issue with the Association of Banks of North-West. Representatives of North Western Customs Service, the St. Petersburg’s and Leningrad Region Main Territorial Departments of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, as well as banks and companies in the real sector will attend.
And now we are pleased to congratulate you all with the beginning of a new business season! One of our members – HR Club, celebrates “the New Year vice versa” its second year at the end of August. At the celebration were Father Frost, Snegurochkaand and a New Year’s tree! Why not? Happy New Year’s to you, friends!
