Maxima Legal has increased its number of practice areas for private clients

Law firm Maxima Legal has expanded the range of services provided as part of its Private Wealth practice. Since November 2019, the firm has been offering a package of family law services.

The new practice area includes advising and assisting HNWI clients on issues around marriage and divorce, including in divorce proceedings, drafting nuptial contracts, maintenance payments, child law issues, and property sharing agreements covering corporate and international assets.

Comprehensive advice on family law issues is provided by Associate Ekaterina Abakumova. Ekaterina graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law of St Petersburg State University, and also completed additional training at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. In 2006, Ekaterina received the status of advocate. Ekaterina is distinguished by her wide expertise in various areas of civil and commercial law, and experience covering all the needs of clients with a focus on advising and representing clients in litigation in family law matters.

Natalia Demina, Head of Private Wealth Maxima Legal Practice, notes that “for the modern entrepreneur, the influence of both the family on business and business on the family is indisputable at all stages of the development of family relationships. Of course, Ekaterina’s experience and expert knowledge in a team with colleagues from other practices and foreign partners will make it possible to solve clients’ problems at the highest professional level.”

According to Ekaterina Abakumova, an effective solution to the tasks in such a delicate area as family issues is impossible without strict observance of the principle of confidentiality, as well as the application of an individual approach to each specific situation. “Adhering to these principles and approaches in working with clients unites me with a team of Maxima Legal professionals. I am pleased to join the practice of Private Wealth and to contribute to the firm’s high quality in the provision of legal services”, explained Ekaterina.

Maxima Legal is one of the few Russian law firms that provides services related to personal assets of clients on a professional basis, including succession planning, structuring of property, support of transactions with real estate, securities, yachts, aircraft in Russia and abroad.

The level of expertise of the Private Wealth practice has been recognised by key global and federal independent rating agencies. For several years in a row, the independent international rating of The Legal500 has included Maxima Legal in the list of recommended firms in the Private Client (Russia) category. In 2019, Kommersant Publishing House also listed Maxima Legal as one of the leading law firms working with private individuals and included Natalia Demina in the top 5 best Russian lawyers in family and probate law.
