Nissan Manufacturing RUS
On April 25, 2006, Nissan Motor Company announced its intention to open its own production facility in Russia. Investments amounted to 200 million US dollars. The plant was built in St. Petersburg and began production in June 2009.
Investment in the expansion of the plant amounted to 167 million euros and was implemented by 2014.
The plant has a production capacity of 100,000 vehicles a year and 2000 people are employed.
The plant produces key Nissan models that are in high demand on the Russian market: Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano.
In 2012 and 2013, the plant received two global awards “Best Plant for Product Quality” among all Nissan plants in the world.
In September 2016, the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg began exporting to Europe its own front and rear bumpers for Nissan X-Trail. It significantly reduced the cost of parts compared to their counterparts.
In November 2018, a new office of Russian division of Nissan Technical Center was opened in St. Petersburg. Engineers there finalize and adapt all Nissan cars manufactured in the country.
As of the end of 2019 more than 400 000 vehicles were produced at Nissan plant in Russia.
