Who is Alexander Bard? This name says little to most Russians but becomes instantly familiar the moment people are reminded that he is the lead singer and creator of the musical trio “Army of Lovers”, the author of almost all the lyrics and music of this band.

However, in addition to his successful musical career, Alexander Bard is known worldwide as a cyberphilosopher, sociologist, writer and is a highly sought-after international speaker.

At the beginning of 2000s, thanks to the publishing activities of the Stockholm School of Economics in Russia, the Russian translation of his book The Netocrats, which predicts the rapid death of the bourgeoisie and the reign of the new rulers-netocrats, was released.

His books about the philosophical effects of the ongoing global internet revolution have been translated into more than 20 languages. According to Alexander Bard, we live in the era of the fourth communication revolution, and its consequences are much more serious than those of the invention of writing or printing.

The Internet revolution is the powerful phenomenon of our time. “The next big change is even more Internet and even more Internet in our lives. All significant new technological and social breakthroughs in the next 100 years will be the result of the rapidly growing interconnectedness between people around the world and network influence,” Bard says.

According to the speaker, old instruments of power, such as mass media (television, radio, books, newspapers) are losing their former value and dominating role. As new talents are required, we see the birth and growth of a new global super class that will control all other classes and groups in society.

Leader in the new era – is creativity in the first place, Bard says. Coercion and other standard methods of motivation are losing their meaning. They are replaced by creative leadership, which will be discussed at the next webinar of the Stockholm School of Economics in Russia for Executive MBA graduates, our partners and all interested participants.

The webinar is free of charge. Registration is required.

The working language of the event is English. For your convenience, we will provide a sound channel with simultaneous interpretation into Russian.

Speaker: Alexander Bard is a Swedish cyberphilosopher and speaker, music producer, writer and television star. Bard studied Economic Geography at The Stockholm School of Economics in the 1980s. Fascinated by cyberphilosophy, Bard has been giving lectures on the philosophical, sociological and economic implications of the digital revolution since the late 1990s.

He has written books together with media theorist Jan Söderqvist. The first three titles – The Netocrats, The Global Empire and The Body Machines – have also been released together as The Futurica Trilogy and translated into over 20 languages. Two more books were published in 2014 and 2018. The third book in the trilogy will be released in 2020. Throughout their oeuvre, Bard & Söderqvist construct a brand new metaphysical system for the digital age, covering everything from the inner existential truths of the new physics to the radical utopian potential of participatory culture.
