On May 27, the 321st birthday of St. Petersburg and on the eve of the White Nights, an evening of contemporary art «It’s Light in St. Petersburg» will be held at the Vasilyevsky Art Hotel. Artists, sculptors, musicians, and philanthropists will come together to help people with severe disabilities.
The event is organized in support of artists from the art studio of the charitable organization «Perspektivy» at Psychoneurological Internat No. 3 in Peterhof. Twenty years ago, «Perspektivy» launched a creative workshop there, which gave people with physical and mental disabilities the opportunity to create, self-realize, and become visible through their art. Over the years, true masters have emerged here, whose works participate in Russian and international exhibitions and are stored in museum and private collections.
For the first time, the «It’s Light in St. Petersburg» event took place in May 2023. This year, Vasilyevsky Hotel (St. Petersburg, 8th Line V.O., 11–13) once again offers the opportunity to gather guests in the creative and hospitable atmosphere of the unique art hotel of St. Petersburg. The central event of the evening will be a charity auction.
«The name of the event is associated with the beginning of the White Nights season and the theme of mercy, » says Evgenia Sokolovskaya, «Perspektivy» Charitable Organisation PR-Director. «In our city, there are long-standing traditions of patronage. The fog dissipates when people come together and open their hearts to help those in need. We are happy that this event has become annual. And this year we suggest meeting specifically on May 27 to celebrate the birthday of St. Petersburg in the most appropriate way – by participating in a charity evening. We managed to collect 25 lots for the auction, including works by artists Ilya Ovsyannikov, Alexey Kiryanov, Ekaterina Posetselskaya, Kapitolina, DeGe, Daniil Arkhipenko, and others. One of the most unusual lots is a painting by American avant-garde artist Matt Lamb, created during his visit to St. Petersburg in 2007. The artist visited our art studio, was impressed by the creativity of our wards – and when leaving, personally handed over several of his works to «Perspektivy».
The auction will also feature mosaics from the «Pomegranate Garden» Studio, a porcelain dish with hand-painted artwork by artist Elena Subota, champagne glasses with porcelain flowers from the gallery of Lada Bystritskaya. As well as touching bronze miniatures of authorial casting by the legendary St. Petersburg sculptor Vladimir Petrovich – the author of the «Bunny» at the Peter and Paul Fortress, «Vasilisa’s Cats, » and «Elisey’s Cat» on Malaya Sadovaya Street.
The evening program includes a dinner with St. Petersburg flavor from the brand chef of the Vasilyevsky Art Hotel, Nikolai Eliseev, and «Peter’s Sea» concert by Vova Che Morale and Sweet Hot Jazz Band.
